Julie Welker
Lawrence Yacovelli
Julie Welker is a dedicated
stakeholder in Philadelphia’s
communities. She earned a BA
at Penn State and a Masters in
City Planning from the
University of Pennsylvania.
She established Welker Real
Estate in 1977 and in 2005
purchased a franchise from
Coldwell Banker; the firm is
now known as Coldwell
Banker Welker Real Estate. A
second office was opened at
1904 South Street to serve the
Center City and University City neighborhoods. Julie has
served on numerous boards, including Women’s Way and
the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors. She and
her husband Harvey are longtime residents of Fairmount.
Daughter Kristen is a news anchor and reporter for NBC 10
News in Philadelphia.
Larry Yacovelli has been in
the mortgage industry for the
past 17 years, presently working for Wells Fargo and prior
to that working at Commerce
Bank and National City
Corporation. He’s been in
management for the past four
years supporting territory
encompassing Southeastern
Pennsylvania, South Jersey
and Delaware. Larry is married with two children, a
boy and a girl, and when
he’s not working he’s either doing light handyman
work or outdoor landscaping.

growth achievements by entering the 2009 Commonwealth Design
Awards, sponsored by 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania. Urban infill,
historic preservation and rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, brownfield
redevelopment, revitalization plans, traditional neighborhood
development and farmland preservation are examples of smart
growth projects that may be entered. The fee for each entry
is $125; deadline for entries is April 3rd. You may also nominate
individuals as a “Friend of Pennsylvania” for extraordinary
leadership and achievements in smart growth.
