• What is your idea about choosing Music, as career? Answer: Well, it’s not an easy thing and it’s not for everybody. One should consult to their Gurus and see if they are able to survive on Music alone. • What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pur- sue this career? Answer: My advice would be- It’s not an easy career to choose. It has lot of chal- lenges and struggle. You have to work very hard throughout your life to attain your goals or to even sustain them. • W  hat are typical mistakes people make when trying to pursue this career? Answer: This field needs lot of pa- tience and perseverance. Nothing comes easy. Years and years of con- sistent practice is needed. After that too the struggle doesn’t end. If you are a performer, every concert is like an exam wherein you have to excel. Nowadays people want everything quickly. They want to learn fast, and start performing and get name fame and money even quicker. But that’s not how it works. Until and unless you spend those many years properly learning and doing your Riyaz, you won’t sustain for long. • I  f you had to do it all over again, would you still choose this career? Would you do anything differently? Answer: Yes, I would still choose this career and I don’t want to change anything. • H  ow do you get people to take you seriously as a musician? Answer: Through your Riyaz. As they say ‘Action speaks loud- er than words’ So once your Riyaz and Music start speaking, automatically people will start taking you seriously. • Why you choose this particular instrument? Answer: As I mentioned before it came naturally to me as my father is also a Sitarist. Thats way I can say the instru- ment chose me or God chose me to play this beautiful instrument Sitar. 26 | APRIL 2018 • H  ow much time you spent in a day for practice? Answer: I don’t count. But I try and be in this Subject (Music) for as much time as possible. • W  hat according to you should be emphasized during practice? Answer: Correct Riyaaz or practice. It’s what you practice that is im portant...not how many hours • W  hat is the response you are getting from India wherever you perform? Answer: Well, I have been lucky enough to get some good r sponses from all over the country and abroad. I wish and hope peo ple keep blessing me as they do. • W  hat you are expecting from Audience? Answer: To have discipline during the concert and have basic knowledge about the genre of music they are hearing. Even if they don’t they should be good listeners. • W  hat is the greatest achievement you have ever achieved in your musical journey? The Most Happiest Moment Also. Answer: There are quite a few moments where you feel happy in this journey. Like when you are blessed and applauded by some senior legendary Artists you feel you are on the right track. • How you advise for teaching music to children? Answer: It should be started from a very early age. Try and make them enjoy the subject. Make them hear differ- ent Artists.Take them to different music concerts.Parents should create interest in them. • Lastly, How’s your life going on… Answer: Life is going very good.
