The Cody Cattle Company
Grab your hat and put on your dancing boots for an evening of foot-stomping western music at the Cody Cattle Company in Cody, Wyoming! Featuring world-class musicians, family-friendly programming, high-energy instrumentals, incredible vocals, and an accompanying light show, there is something here for all ages.
Named the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce 2025 Business of the Year, they feed and entertain 300 people each night, seven days a week for their summer season, with all 50 states and nearly 100 different countries represented last year.
With dinner, the show, and the rodeo afterwards, you’ ve got your evening made! They alternate two different programs every other night, in case you want to come back for a second round, and the show is different year to year as well. A lot of country and some rock and roll, it is sure to keep your toes a-tapping!
“ The show is all music,” owner Greg Pendley said,“ a blend of old cowboy music, starting with things like‘ Sons of the Pioneers.’ We do a medley at the beginning of the show with that style of music, to give homage to where it started.”
The Triple C Cowboys band stars Ryan Martin on guitar, and features Marvin Short on the saxophone, Johnny Sanchez on bass, and Josey Nickels on keyboard. Ryan Martin has been the main entertainer since Cody Cattle Company began in 2009,“ And we’ ve formed various bands around him,” Greg explained. Ryan, Marvin, and Johnny have been playing music together for close to 10 years, and this will be Josey’ s second year with the group.“ I feel like the show is the best it’ s been since the beginning!” Greg said.“ It is an hourlong, high-energy show that really highlights those instruments and those musicians.”
Kids of all ages are welcome and may even get a chance at a cameo performance, Greg said.
“ We always end with a patriotic medley, and we get kids up on stage for that, to either play tambourine or wave the flag …. We get four to five kids up on stage at the end of every show every night, and we do this seven days a week, so that’ s a lot of kids!” he said with a laugh.“ They’ re going to have fun. It’ s high energy. We use a programmed lights show, and have a slide show that goes along with the songs, so there is something to look at as well as listen to. The musicians are very entertaining, very funny, with lots of humor through the show as well. It is very audience-interactive.”
Doors open at 4:50, dinner is served at 5:30 and the show is from 6:30-7:30.
The menu is an all-you-can-eat buffet, featuring smoke beefed brisket, pulled pork, chicken, potatoes, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, coleslaw, and green salad, with brownies and ice cream for dessert. Iced tea, lemonade and coffee are included with the meal, and soda and adult beverages are available for an extra charge.
“ The dress code is casual,” Greg said.“ I always tell people to dress in layers if you’ re going to the rodeo. We keep our building a little cool, since by the time you put 300 people in it, it gets pretty hot by 7 p. m.!”
Greg and his wife, Ann, both professional musicians of 50 years, purchased the Cody Cattle Company in 2018, making 2019 their first season, and they played with the band for five seasons. In their time owning the business, they have expanded the stage and upgraded the lighting and sound systems, added a bar and a gift shop, and he estimates they have doubled their audience.
The Cody Cattle Company was featured on Guy Fieri’ s“ All-American Road Trip,” in episodes that aired in 2024, giving them some additional exposure and some fun memories. Greg recalls the night Fieri and his crew were there filming.
“ They all were in the front row during the show and he came backstage and talked to us afterwards. We all got a shot of his tequila and had some good laughs and got some nice photos with him, and we ended up on the show. That was fun and exciting for us.”
The Cody Stampede Rodeo Grounds are just down the road from the Cody Cattle Company, with a nightly 8 p. m. rodeo and plenty of time to get there after the show, and the Old Trail Town across the street is the perfect spot for some photo ops on the self-guided tour. It sits on the original town site, and is Wyoming’ s largest Old West collection of historic buildings and other artifacts, including a cabin used by the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid stayed, with bullet holes in the door.
“ Cody is a great hub to get to Yellowstone. If you’ re just making a trip through Cody for a day, you definitely want to hit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, which is five museums in one, the Smithsonian of the West …. We also have wild mustangs close to the area, if you want to see horses. We have river rafting. There’ s a lot to do. You just want to be at our place by 5 p. m.!”
