Custer Hospitality began with a simple idea— a stay in the Black Hills should feel as memorable as the landscape itself. The vision was to create a year-round destination in Custer that invites travelers in while supporting the local community. It started with a small, family-owned hotel and an apartment building, meeting both visitor demand and local housing needs. Over time, that vision expanded into a collection of hotels and a unique campground resort, each designed to reflect the charm and character of Custer.
Today, Custer Hospitality spans six properties and a team that grows to more than 150 during peak season.

Custer Hospitality is privately owned by Mike Tennyson. The organization is led by a local management team and COO Leah Scott, with a focus on day-to-day operations, guest experience and long-term growth.
