Spearfish Canyon Lodge

The Hub for Your Next Adventure

Make Savoy, SD the center of your Black Hills exploring and plan a trip to Spearfish Canyon! Spearfish Canyon Lodge is your year-round, one-stop-shop for everything from lodging to dining to adventure rentals, situated in arguably one of the most beautiful corners of western South Dakota.
“ When you’ re in Spearfish Canyon, we have everything here, you don’ t have to leave,” Kayla Betten said, a manager and partner at Spearfish Canyon Lodge for the last 10 years.“ We like for guests to be able to come and enjoy everything and not have to leave the resort if they don’ t want to.”
From its luxurious suites and rooms, to the on-site bar, to the famous Latchstring Restaurant across the road, to complimentary coffee in the lobby and guest rooms, and easy access to some stunning hikes, Spearfish Canyon Lodge is the perfect hub for your next get-back-to-nature getaway.
The Lodge has been around for about 30 years, and is a popular site for family and class reunions, since it can be rented out in its entirety, and its gorgeous setting and all-inclusive hospitality make it a coveted location for weddings. The vaulted ceiling of their main lobby is warm and welcoming, with an eye-catching floor-toceiling stone fireplace, and rustic furniture for visiting or reading or catching up on a little work.
“ The weddings that we do there are absolutely beautiful, with that natural backdrop,” Kayla said.“ The Lodge hosts between 20-30 weddings a year. We usually have something every weekend, between weddings and events.”
Their Bridal Veil Falls Suite and Roosevelt Suite both boast gas fireplaces, sleeper sofas, and private decks, perfect for weddings and honeymoons or family excursions, and their smaller suites also feature a variety of amenities, including gas fireplaces in some of the suites, easy access to hot tubs, and luxurious king- or queen-sized beds, sleeper sofas, kitchenettes, and stunning views of the creek or the canyon. Their Premier Rooms give guests more of a hotel experience, with simple, comfortable rooms, with all the same access to Lodge amenities and perks. Two homey Creekside units, located a little way from the main lodge, treat guests to creekside views and a little more privacy, each with two bedrooms and a full kitchen, and for a secluded getaway, book their Berry Patch Cabin, a two-bedroom private cabin with a full kitchen, fireplace, and private deck.
The Latchstring Inn Restaurant across the road got its start as the Glendoris Inn, a lodge and eatery that opened in 1909 in what remained of the sawmill from McLaughlin Tie and Timber Company. Today it continues to be a favorite in the Black Hills, with a reputation for excellent dining and local flavor, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and catering events, including weddings hosted by the Lodge.
The restaurant sits right above Spearfish Creek, and the back patio treats guests to soaring views of the canyon walls. Ample seating on the patio and the quiet interior seating can take guests seamlessly from a casual before-a-hike breakfast or after-a-hike lunch to a wine-and-dine evening meal, and their extensive menu options won’ t let anyone go hungry, from the pickiest eaters to those with more refined palates.
