There are approximately 200 caves in the Black Hills, including two in the Southern Hills: Jewel Cave National Monument and Wind Cave National Park.
Jewel Cave is the secondlongest cave in the world, at 139 miles long and 631 feet deep, while Wind Cave National Park, at 124.5 miles, is the thirdlongest cave in the United States and the fourthlongest in the world.
Rangerguided tours cover a variety of topics and tours are offered at both locations, both in the caves and on their surface. These tours stir the imagination and educate the mind. Both caves are open yearround. A light jacket is recommended for cave tours.
