APPENDIX 2: EXAMPLE YOUNG PEOPLE’S RISK ASSESSMENT (CONTINUED) EXISTING CONTROL MEASURES Induction given to ALL young persons on the first day of their work experience. Introduced to relevant members of staff and made familiar with environment. Key findings of the risk assessments and the control measures in place are explained to the young persons. Young persons are supervised. Sufficient members of staff are first aiders. Information gathered from the trainees at interview is used to assess on their ability and experience. Staff demonstrate the correct method of carrying out any activity. They are then accompanied by staff to practice the activity until they are sufficiently competent. Young persons instructed on safe Manual handling techniques during induction. Trainees allocated gloves and dust masks on request from the yard office. Access to chemicals and veterinary products prohibited at all times. Horse riding activity assessed separately – See Relevant Risk Assessment. Access to machinery or equipment prohibited at all times. Fire and evacuation procedures explained at induction.
