THE FOUR PILLARS OF ASSESSMENT

To progress through the stages, a rider should demonstrate proficiency across four critical areas:
SKILLS
The practical ability to ride with a balanced position, maintain an independent seat, and execute technical manoeuvres such as riding“ upsides” at speed or jumping obstacles.
SAFETY
Adhering to strict industry safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE, road safety, and concussion awareness.
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding the“ why” behind the“ how,” including tack fitting, horse anatomy, and the mechanics of equine gaits.
WELFARE & CONDUCT
Prioritising the physical and mental wellbeing of the horse and upholding the industry’ s Social Licence to Operate through that professional behaviour. By aligning this standard, the industry promotes every rider should be equipped to handle the unique challenges of the Thoroughbred racehorse safely and professionally.
