Based in Newmarket, The National Stud launched their new Thoroughbred Industry Access course which is a fully funded 16- week residential course for those with little to no equine experience. Rolling start dates are on offer throughout the year.
The apprenticeship programmes are available for 16 – 21-year-olds and can be completed on a UK stud farm in a location that suits you, providing regular guidance from certified assessors and the opportunity to earn whilst learning in the workplace.
The Level 3 Stud Management & Sales Consignment course is a 28-week residential course for those looking to progress their career in the breeding industry. The course is split into two terms from September-December and January-April which cover the sales season and breeding season, respectively. Learning is also complemented by rotations on the vet round and in the stud office with part-time and non-residential options also available.
Each course includes:
• Practical training and certification in Thoroughbred Stud practices and Horse Care
• 1st4Sport Qualification at the specified level
• Lectures in the structure and format of the Thoroughbred Bloodstock Industry
• Regular mentoring and career development sessions with the Education team.
National Stud graduates of all courses are currently employed across the globe for breeding enterprises such as Juddmonte Farms, Darley, Whitsbury Manor and Watership Down.
