The British Horseracing Development Programme
The British Horseracing Development Programme( formerly known as the British Horseracing Graduate Development Programme) is well known and highly regarded throughout the British Horseracing industry
This Programme provides an invaluable source of talent to the sport and its supporting industry. It is an early careers programme suitable for candidates with Degrees, Higher Apprenticeships or equivalent skills and capabilities.
Over 450 people have completed the Programme and the majority have established careers in British Horseracing in a wide range of roles; management positions at racecourses, bookmakers, the trade press, trainer’ s yards, studs, bloodstock sales and also at the British Horseracing Authority.
The Programme starts with a free, comprehensive two-week residential introduction course usually held at The British Racing School in Newmarket in July. This is followed by an 8 week paid placement at one of the sponsoring companies. Applications are usually invited from November to the end of February each year.
