On successful completion of the Foundation Course, students will achieve a Level 1 Diploma in Work Based Racehorse Care. They will then be placed in a racing yard to commence an Apprenticeship at Level 2. This course is compulsory for anyone under 19 who wants to work in a racing yard.
Students will learn a host of skills specifically related to the care of racehorses, including how to ride and importantly, how to look after themselves and keep fit. There are no specific entry requirements other than a desire to work outdoors, have a reasonable level of fitness and have a hardworking attitude.
The course will include:
• A residential Foundation Course( 12-18 weeks, dependent on experience)
• A work placement in a racing yard to complete an Apprenticeship at Level 2( at a yard to be agreed between the Racing School and Learner)
• Free tuition for learners, low cost accommodation and food
• Life skills
• No experience necessary but there is a fitness test
• Riding tuition.
