QIPCO British Champions Series showcases 35 of the UK ’ s finest Flat races , including three of the world ’ s top five . The Series features at all of the UK ’ s most iconic Flat festivals , from the Derby and St Leger , to Glorious Goodwood and Royal Ascot , presenting unparalleled , quality racing across 10 of the country ’ s finest racecourses . The Series includes world-class sporting action across five different categories – Sprint , Mile , Middle Distance , Long Distance and Fillies & Mares .
Five top-class races mark the climax of the Series on the Ultimate Raceday , QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 21st October , where the world ’ s best compete at the nation ’ s richest raceday . Put simply , QIPCO British Champions Series shines the spotlight on the best horses , the best jockeys and the best racecourses , so that millions worldwide can follow the finest Flat racing .
British Horseracing Authority ( BHA )
BHA is the governing authority for horse racing in Great Britain . It came into existence on 31 July 2007 as the result of a merge between the British Horseracing Board and the Horseracing Regulatory Authority . It is the BHA ’ s role to ensure the continued health and successful development of the sport . As both the governing and regulatory body it is the British Horseracing Authority ’ s responsibility to :
• Provide the most compelling and attractive racing in the world
• Be seen as the world leader in raceday regulation
• Ensure the highest standards for the sport and participants , on and away from the racecourse
• Promote the best for the racehorse and
• Represent and promote the sport and the industry .
Great British Racing ( GBR )
Great British Racing is the sport ’ s official marketing and promotional body , working with all of racing ’ s stakeholders . Their objective is to grow interest and participation in horseracing – via racecourse attendance , television viewing , racehorse ownership and a lot more . They believe that horseracing offers something for everyone ! Through their online channels they aim to get you closer to the sport and provide you with more insight into racing . They want to cater for all fans – whether aficionados or beginners .
HEROs
HEROS ( www . heroscharity . org ) was established in 2006 to re-train and re-home exracehorses at the end of their racing careers . In 2015 , a new programme of education focused on work and training at North Farm Stud ( NFS ) where HEROS is based , began with support from the Racing Foundation . The programme now includes a broad selection of equine-related courses ranging from entry level up to Level 3 that are quality-assured through KEITS , City and Guilds and 1st4 Sport . HEROS is now a recognised route to racing by the BHA .
