BGSU Classroom Technology E-Mag Spring 2018 | Page 23

I cannot conclude from this project that using interactive technology in whole-class writing lessons is the most effective way to teach children to write. No significant increases were made. However, from the data I personally gathered, and the literature review I completed, I feel that I could make changes in my teaching practices and utilization of interactive whiteboards to intensify the level of effectiveness.

For future research, I would like to create interactive whiteboard lessons that involve more student participation and evaluate their effectiveness. Literature gathered showed more of an increase in effectiveness when students were able to personally manipulate the board. Additionally, I feel it would be imperative to my effectiveness as a teacher to study the use of interactive whiteboard lessons in a differentiated manner through writing groups. While my study did not have specific or significant increases in motivation or writing abilities, I do believe there are ways that are genuinely effective. I will continue my research to evaluate my practices and grow in my pedagogical practices.
