College and Career Program
Dreams Realized
Everyone in high school looks forward to graduation day. I know I was
looking forward to graduating myself. I always had this main goal to
attend a college. At the beginning I didn’t know how I was going to get
there. My last few weeks of my senior year Ms. Ann, a College and
Career Mentor, helped me sign up for several universities, but sadly
none of them were pleasing to me. So I ended up signing up for Lone
Star College in Tomball and that was the best decision I ever made!
Moving out of Cottage 3 was pretty sad, but at the end I was really
looking forward to moving into the College and Career Campus. I was
excited to have my own room and start college already. The transition
to the College and Career campus was a little hard, but I got used to it
in a few weeks.
My first semester at Lone Star College went great. So far I’ve passed
my classes and have been awarded a scholarship from Lone Star called
the TG Charley Wootan Grant. I am looking forward to my future as a
Physical Therapist Assistant, and with all the help I am receiving from
all of you, I’m thankful to be able to reach my goal.

Luke’s Outlook
What home means to me is somewhere you can go when you are hurt
or when you need someone to love
you. My mom couldn’t take care of
me and my older sister. Someone had
told my mom about Boys and Girls
Country. They have helped me and
my sister a lot to get through tough
times in our lives. This is a great place
that I can call home in many ways.
The cottages we have today are really
something. But none of us can wait
until the new cottages are built. I
am glad to call all the grown-ups my
Teaching Parents and the cottage my
home. I also think this is a great thing
for me and my sister. If it wasn’t for
Boys and Girls Country I wouldn’t have
a place to call home today. I wouldn’t
even have had a Christmas l \
