Message from Co-Chairs Chairmen’s Corner Dear Friends, We can’t wait for the 37th Annual Spring Festival, Saturday, May 2! It’s a great day of food, fellowship and fun for the whole family. As in the past, there will be classic midway games, crafts, giant inflatables, silent and live auctions, great bands and music, and much more! In addition to some fabulous new rides, this year is our inaugural Petal for a Purpose bike ride (a play on words incorporating the flower from the Spring Festival logo). This ride will bring cyclists from the Houston area together to raise money and awareness for Boys and Girls Country. In this issue, you can read about how the cycling program at Boys and Girls Country has become a great learning tool for our kids. Registration for the ride is $40 and, after the ride, participants can enjoy not only a free lunch, but the Boys and Girls Country Spring Festival. Fundraising Goal With your help, we hope to raise $784,500 during Spring Festival. What Your Donations Fund When you come to Spring Festival you are supporting 88 children who live at Boys and Girls Country because their families are in some sort of crisis. Your support provides a child with a loving home, three meals a day, clothing and shoes, personal necessities (toiletries), education, counseling and health services. What Impact Your Donations Make Our children come from families who may struggle to provide adequate supervision, education, or even their most basic needs. With your support, we are able to go above and beyond these basic needs to provide the structure and love all children need to grow into the people God intended them to be, self-sustaining and contributing adults. We hope you can join us at Spring Festival this year. If you are not able to, won’t you please use the enclosed envelope and make a donation? Sincerely, John and Cynthia Nesser w w w. 2 015 s p r i n g f e s t i v a l . o r g 8 Boys and Girls Country News | Spring 2015
