They are working on the conclusion of a paragraph. Sixth grade classes will complete reviewing paragraph writing and begin a new unit on sentence variety. They will focus on the basic parts of speech used to create independent clauses. We will identify different kinds of rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic) and explore the stages of the rock cycle. The purpose of this unit is to develop an understanding that the earth’s surface is constantly changing. The classes will identify different kinds of rocks (metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary) and explore the stages of the rock cycle along with cornucopias amounts of vocabulary to support our unit. We will investigate the forces that cause changes on and in the earth’s crust, the effects of plate tectonics, and the nature of fast and slow changes. During this Unit, students had the opportunity to play scoop dodgeball, scoop soccer, and scoop baseball. Our current Unit is Recreational Games. In this Unit students will have the chance to play ; ping pong, badminton, 4 square, horse shoes, golf putting and ladder ball. Family and Consumer Science / Health The 7th grade Family and Consumer Science / Health class will be learning about Hands Only CPR and the use of an AED in the next few weeks. A website “Be the Beat “ that is sponsored by the American Heart Association will be used as a source of information that includes videos and games for students to have fun with while learning the important information on how to save a life. Bellows Falls Middle School has 2 AED’s located in the building. One is just outside the Gym doors to the right and the other is on the 3rd floor just out side the nurse’s office. Jean Hodsden our school nurse will be working with students during this unit. Our after school class (AIM) will include Cultural Cooking and Spirit Club for the next session.
