Beyond The Screen I | Page 24

Over at Riverrun, a celebration occurs over the Riverrun victory. Walder Frey gloats about the win while Jamie Lannister stays his humble self. Walder Frey calls Jamie and Bronn “two Kingslayers,” but Jaime quickly puts him in his place: If the Lannisters have to ride north every time the Freys lose the Riverlands, he asks, “Why do we need you?” We felt the burn on that one.

Later on during the celebration, Frey angrily wonders where his two sons are, and his new serving girl says, “Here, my lord.” She’s indicating the pies he’s eating, which she made with their bodies. She pulls off a face and reveals herself as Arya Stark and makes sure that Frey, who killed her brother, sister-in-law, and her mother, knows that a Stark is getting payback. She then slits his throat crossing off a name on her list. Joffrey, Cersei, Walder Frey, Meryn Trant, Tywin Lannister, The Red Woman, Berric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, Ilyn Payne, The Mountain, The Hound. Let’s repeat the names Arya style before we go to bed tonight.

After the great victory in Winterfell, Jon and Melisandre talk amongst themselves until Davos runs in reveals what Melisandre did to Shireen . “It was the only way” she says. Davos having loved Shireen as his own yells “If he commands you to burn children, your lord is evil!” She regretfully admits to the act, only to be threatened by Jon and Davos that if she ever returns to north she’ll be hung.

Littlefinger being the conniving person he is declares his loyalty for House Stark after helping them defeat the Boltons but still confesses he wants the iron throne and for Sansa to sit with him. This comes along with the news that the people of the North have declared Jon Snow as their new King of the North.

Speaking of the REAL queen Daenerys, who is slowly reminding us she poses the biggest threat to the Lannister’s rule “You’re in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying,” Tyrion who now serves the queen as her hand.

Remember Bran? Bran’s off doing some sorcery stuff seeing into the past and being all three-eyed raven-y. Bran sees into the past and returns to the Tower of Joy with a young Ned Stark on his way up to see his sister Lyanna covered in blood on her bed. From what we can see she is or has given birth. During her final moments, Lyanna whispers to Ned “If Robert finds out, he’ll kill him. You know he will.” And she makes him promise her to keep the baby boy safe. Now for everyone who didn’t read the books, fan theories, or honestly anything related to Game of Thrones we’ll break the secret to you. Jon is a Targaryen. Shocker right? How you ask? Well Lyanna Stark was supposedly married to Robert Baratheon but was kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark had a child and his magnificent name was Jon Snow. Ned Stark promised Lyanna that he would never reveal his true parentage in order to keep him safe. Well Ned Stark’s dead and there’s no telling if the secret will stay a secret.

Going back to what’s left of King’s Landing. Jaime who has just returned from Riverrun, comes back to a no longer there sept and his sister/love Cersei as the newly appointed queen next to her advisor Qyburn and guard The Mountain.

The episode ends with Daenerys and her Ironborne navy — with Tyrion, The Greyjoys and her now larger than life dragons —setting sail for Westeros ready to restore the Iron Throne back to the Targaryens.

What’s all this mean for the next season? Well for starters the long awaited winter is finally here so we can only expect the most epic of epic battles between man and the white-walkers. Shall there be a female battle between Cersei and Daenerys for the Iron Throne? Gosh we can only hope so. Will we finally get our “Clegane Bowl?” Will Jon Snow’s true parentage be revealed to someone? Unfortunately, we’ve got to battle our own “the long night” or “winter” first before we experience the figurative one.
