As a result of the media causing mental illnesses an individual could encounter more problems in society. If a person is having trouble being accepted by their peers along with these personal issues it could add unneeded stress and exacerbate the illness even more. As well as the stressors of doing well in school could hurt a person condition even more. Along with the day-to-day “ideal” image of perfection the media promotes everyday.

Parents could also be affected by their child’s mental illness. If a parent does not know how to help someone or their child with a mental illness it could add strain on the family and worsen the illness. They may also be unaware of how to treat someone with an illness or what they need to do for their safety. A mental illness in family member could put emotional stress on a parent and they may feel that they did not do a good job raising their child. Mental illnesses do not just affect the person with the illness but everyone around them, and the media is only making it harder for people to live a normal life.
