MENTAL HEALTH Energy Therapy Offers Hope with Physical and Mental Disorders by Karen Morey Certified Healing Touch Practitioner “The Chemistry of Calm” with Henry Emmons, MD May 10, 7:00 pm (MPLS) Henry Emmons is a psychiatrist who integrates mind- body and natural therapies, mindfulness and Buddhist teachings, and compassion and insight into his clinical work. Henry will lead a session about resilience in the face of depression, anxiety, and other stress-related conditions. Reading his book, "The Chemistry of Calm," before the presentation is recommended, but not required to enjoy the presentation. Mental Health at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities Monday Mental Health is a speaker series co-hosted by St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities. On the second Monday of each month, alternating between the two church locations, a speaker presents on a timely mental health topic. A light supper is served at 5:45 pm followed by the speaker from 6:30-8 pm. The event is always free and open to anyone. CEUs are available depending on speaker credentials. Mental Health Connect (MHC) provides families and individuals with the community-based resources, support, and education needed from improved mental wellness. In addition to such interventions as talk therapy, medication, physical exercise, a healthy diet, and a support network, many people also find that Energy Therapy is beneficial. There are several forms of Energy Therapy that can be helpful. Examples of Energy Therapies include acupuncture, meditation, yoga, Reiki, Eden Energy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Qi Gong, and Healing Touch. Healing Touch is a non-invasive modality that clears, energizes and balances the human energy field. When someone is injured, ill, or under stress, the natural flow of energy becomes congested, which impacts the mind, body and spirit. Deep pain can trigger anxiety and Healing Touch works depression. This caring, well with traditional heart-centered healing medicine because a treatment improves physical, mental, relaxed body recovers emotional and spiritual more quickly than a health by helping the stressed one. When body to heal itself. the body is relaxed Healing Touch uses light or near body touch and the brain is calm, to restore balance and pain is lessened harmony to the human and depression energy system. Healing Touch works well with and anxiety are traditional medicine diminished. because a relaxed body recovers more quickly than a stressed one. When the body is relaxed and the brain is calm, pain is lessened and depression and anxiety are diminished. Effects of Healing Touch tend to be cumulative as the therapy is experienced over time. People who have experienced Healing Touch often report deep relaxation, an increased sense of wellbeing, a heightened spiritual connection, and a decrease in pain.
