Holden – Beginning Together by Sandie Anderson Women’s Choral Ensemble Singing in the Summer "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." - Revelation 21:4-5 ESV Women of all ages and experiences are invited to participate. If you enjoy singing in the pews, here’s another “outlet” for your voice. If you sing in community choirs, this is an easy way to contribute to worship. If you sing in Senior Choir, share your leadership. If you, like so many of us, used to sing but haven’t in years, you’re welcome. If you are new to our congregation, and want to meet other women, consider this. Holden Village is open to guests for the first time in four years following mine remediation and a forest fire. The theme for this summer is Beginning Together – a renewed and reformed journey in the Railroad Creek Valley. Holden's new beginnings offer a chance to explore the boundaries of our lives together and to explore the healing of our nation during a time in which divisiveness and fear spread at an ever-increasing pace. This is an opportunity to find togetherness when we share differing beliefs, to explore new beginnings as the land in the valley recovers after fire, and to explore the future of Holden now that the many years of construction have ended. The Women’s Choral Ensemble will rehearse on July 31, 6:45-7:45 pm in the Harrisville Room. We will then offer up music in worship the following Sunday, August 6. This summer singing opportunity is a great chance to give the ensemble a try without worrying about a huge time commitment. The music of women has a special place in our Christian worship. It is a unique experience when women come together to sing — for singers and for listeners. We hope that you will join us this summer! There are still openings for guests, volunteers and staff. The journey to Holden starts near Chelan, Washington, with a 4-hour boat trip up Lake Chelan followed by a school bus ride up the forest roads to one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations you could ever imagine. Coming into the village you will almost always smell the fresh bread baking. Everyone is welcome at Holden – singles to families – and there’s something for everyone to do and learn. If you have a week and would like to relax and regroup away from all of life’s distractions, check out Holden. If you have two weeks or more and would like to volunteer, check the website and let them know of your interest, www.holdenvillage.org. It’s an op
