Recognized as one of America ’ s finest male vocal ensembles , CANTUS has mastered an enviable blend , perfection of tone , charismatic presence and wide-ranging stylistic fluency . Recent debuts have been on Lincoln Center ' s Great Performers series , Berkeley ' s Cal Performances and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art . They will be presenting an all-new program , “ No Greater Love Than This ” which explores the bonds that have defined those willing to lay down their lives for others .

A most heartfelt THANK YOU to the congregation , choir and staff for a wonderful celebration of my 40 years at Bethlehem . I am incredibly blessed to be part of such a talented , creative , vibrant and caring community . God has enriched my life beyond measure for allowing me to lead you in worship these many years . I so value your friendship , support and enthusiasm for the ministry to which God has called all of us . By God ' s grace I intend to continue my calling as the leader of the people ' s song while it is appropriate to do so .
Christy Hallenbeck Ask Ordination
We ’ re pleased to announce that Christy Hallenbeck Ask has received a call from Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls , SD , and will be ordained there on April 8 , 10:30 am . Christy moved to the Twin Cities when she graduated from Augustana College and found her way to Bethlehem . She quickly became involved in the confirmation program as a small group leader and eventually worked part-time on the youth staff . Christy enrolled at Luther Seminary where she met her husband Jon Hallenbeck Ask . They completed internships in Tucson , AZ , and Bozeman , MT , and recently made their home in Sioux Falls . Jon has been called to West Prairie Lutheran Church in Lennox , SD , and was ordained on March 11 . Congratulations and God ’ s blessings to Christy and Spirit of Joy as she begins ordained ministry !

Congratulations to Mark Paisar , Associate Director of Music for Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities on the recent completion of his Doctor of Musical Arts in Church Music Degree from the University of Kansas . The title of his thesis was : " Lutheran Alternatim Practices in the 16th and Early 17th Centuries : A Narrative of Liturgical Artistry and Accessibility ."

MYTH : Environmentally , paper bags are better than plastic . Conventional wisdom has led many to believe that paper is a more natural product than plastic , thus making it the better choice for the environment . In truth , things are a lot more complicated . Both paper and plastic have big environmental impacts during their life cycles . Compared to plastic , paper production actually generates more greenhouse gasses and uses more energy and water . Unlike paper , most curbside collection programs don ’ t accept plastic bags , so the recycling rate for plastic is lower . Plastic bags are more likely to become litter , clog waterways , and pose a threat to marine animals . Hazardous chemicals are used to produce both paper and plastic bags . The best choice is to avoid disposable bags altogether . Opt instead for durable , reusable bags , preferably made from recycled materials . Source : Minnesota Pollution Control Agency

As a community we come together for worship on Sunday mornings and sometimes we are lucky enough to share a cup of coffee with a friend . You are invited to support this community , at either campus , by volunteering to make and serve coffee . All the details will be provided .
