The Highest Hill
When we climb the highest hill some morning
When we’ve left the valley far behind
When we’ve passed the road’s last bend
We’ll be welcomed by the friend
Who’s been watching o’er us
As the trail we climbed.
Then that day we’ll see our blessed Saviour
And we’ll rest where all is calm and still
There he’ll wipe away each tear,
Every pain and every fear
When we stand upon the highest hill.
When our pilgrim journey is all over
And the problems of this life are passed
When the Saviour’s face is seen
With no darkening vale between,
And our crowns before his feet have all been cast
When we see those blessed wounds of Calvary,
Jesus’ face our wondering gaze will fill.
We will prove His wondrous love
That has brought us safe above
When we stand upon the highest hill.
When the angel bands are softly singing
And the bells are ringing sweet and clear
Hand-in-hand we’ll walk along
As we listen to each song
And each rising swelling chord we’ll thrill to hear
Then we’ll sing redemption’s song together
Filled with joy, our happy hearts shall thrill
Ev’ry care shall pass away
And we’ll find a brighter day,
When we stand upon the highest hill.
