ETHICS & THE ENVIRONMENT
It is very important to us that our products are manufactured sustainably and in humane conditions. New
Wave Group is involved in several different international programmes focusing on environmental and ethical
issues. We want to ensure that the products we offer to consumers are manufactured in socially and ethically
acceptable production conditions. As one of our customers, you contribute to this important work.
Accord on Fire and Building
Safety in Bangladesh
The Accord is a binding agreement
designed to improve fire and building
safety for the textile industry in
Bangladesh. The Accord carries out
inspections, provides fire safety training
and renovates buildings in the area.
Amfori BSCI (Business Social
Compliance Initiavite)
Developed by European retail chains,
AMFORI BSCI strives to improve
suppliers’ working conditions in
developing countries so that they can
achieve the level required by
international treaties. AMFORI BCSI
also aims to clarify and standardise the
monitoring of suppliers carried out by
companies. The goal is to ensure that the
products offered to customers are
manufactured in socially and ethically
acceptable production conditions.
Clean Shipping Index
The Clean Shipping Index encourages
shipping companies to use cleaner
vessels by ranking ships on their
environmental performance. Transport
buyers can use the Clean Shipping
Index to calculate and minimise their
environmental footprint.
Hand in Hand
Hand-in-Hand fights poverty with
education and entrepreneurship. In
approximately seven years, the
organisation has created over 1,7 million
jobs in some of the world’s poorest
countries. As a result, five million people
are no longer living in extreme poverty
and hundreds of thousands of children
have been able to attend school. With
New Wave’s funding of Hand-in-Hand,
three entire villages are able to participate
in the project and some 1,500 people will
have their lives changed for the better.
Textile Exchange
Textile Exchange is an international
non-profit organisation that works to
make the textile industry more sustainable
by, for example, promoting organic
cotton production.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
is an international textile testing and
certification system. OEKO-TEX
certification means that the entire value
chain of a product has been tested
independently and that the product is
safe for the skin. The label helps
consumers make purchase decisions
when shopping for sustainably
produced textile products.
