Στη γωνία των οδών Βενιζέλου και Βαμβακά, πίσω από το Χαμζά Μπέη Τζαμί, γνωστό
ως Αλκαζάρ (τζαμί του 15ου αιώνα), συναντάμε το κτηριακό συγκρότημα Caravan Sarai,
το οποίο χτίστηκε πάνω από τα ερείπια κτηρίου του 15ου αιώνα το οποίο μεταξύ άλλων
λειτούργησε ως πανδοχείο. Το Caravan Sarai «πρωταγωνίστησε» σε βιβλίο αλλά και
ταινία, σε σκηνοθεσία του Τάσου Ψαρρά, ενώ σε ένα τμήμα του, στέγασε για κάποιο
χρονικό διάστημα και το Δημαρχείο Θεσσαλονίκης!
On the corner of Venizelou and Vamvakas streets, behind Hamza Bey Mosque, known as
Alkazar (Mosque of 15 century) there is Caravan Sarai building complex, which was built on
the ruins of a structure of the 15th century that was used, among others, as a motel. Caravan
Sarai starred in a book and a movie, directed by Tasos Psarras, while a part of it housed for a
period of time the Town Hall of Thessaloniki!
