TO STEKI Traditional restaurant in the Old Town, next to
the Cathedral of Chania, at the pictueresque Agion Deka
alley. Since 1996 it is a favourite culinary hangout that
worships the authentic Cretan diet with the fresher local
ingredients, with respect to tradition that is in perfect balance
with the modern culinary trends. Preserving features of the
past, such as the yard which was created from the damages
caused by the World War II, as well as its vintage aura of
the old Venetian structure, the space is particularly scenic
and, at the same time, the menu honours the famous local
cuisine that is based on recipes with the purest ingredients.
The must-taste dishes are, among others, the traditional
“gamopilafo”, “ofto” lamb, gnocchi with “staka” butter and
traditional apaki, as well as seafood dishes included in the
rich menu, accompanied with a wide variety of Cretan wines
and the popular “tsikoudia” made by local small producers.
