ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ
Διατρέχει τη γραφική συνοικία του
Τοπανά (ή αλλιώς Τοπ Χανάς) από
Bορρά προς Nότο και είναι ένας
από τους ευθύτερους και φαρδύτε-
ρους δρόμους της Παλιάς Πόλης.
Στο τέλος της Θεοτοκοπούλου θα
συναντήσετε το Φρούριο Φιρκά, τη
μονή του San Salvatore (15-17ος
αι.) που φιλοξενεί τη Βυζαντινή και
Μεταβυζαντινή Συλλογή Χανίων και
απέναντι τη βενετσιάνικη αποθήκη
από την οποία πήρε την ονομασία
ο Τοπανάς (top hane στα τούρκικα).
Πριν από την επίσημη ονοματοδοσία
της, οι παλιότεροι την αποκαλούσαν
και «Φαρδύ σοκάκι του Τοπανά» και
αποτελεί ιδανική επιλογή για όσους
θέλουν να γνωρίσουν την ομορφιά
και τον «αέρα» μιας άλλης εποχής!
THEOTOKOPOULOU STREET
It runs across the scenic district of Topana
(or else Top Hanas) from north to south
and it is one of the oldest and wider
streets of the Old City. At the end of The-
otokopoulou street you will find the Firka
Fortress, the monastery of San Salvatore
(15-17th c.), which houses the Byzantine
and Post-Byzantine Collection of Chania
and opposite the Venetian warehouse
from which it was named Topanas (top
hane in Turkish). Before its official naming,
the older ones called it “wide alley of To-
pana” and is an ideal choice for those who
want to experience the beauty and “air” of
another era!
