• The modern town of Thiva is built right on top of the ancient one with the “ remains ” still scattered ! The mycenean chamber tombs , the mycenean palace or Cadmea palace , the temple of Isminios-Apollo and the gates of Cadmea ( from the seven mythological gates of Thebes only the entrance between the two circular towers of Helectron Gates ) are few of the findings you will admire with a walk in the town !
• Continue your walk to the new Archaeological Museum of Thiva so that you will be initiated in the important history of Viotia ( 1 Threpsiadou Str ., Keramopoullou square ).
• Go up the pedestrian area of Epaminonda street in the heart of the town and take a walk to the passage until the central square where you can have a break for coffee !
• Make a stop at the Oedipal fountain ( fountain of Aghioi Theodori ), known from the ancient times , since in this Oedipus was washed after the murder of this father , Laios .
• If the weather allows it , don ’ t miss the chance for a walk to Moschopodi grove that will win you over at once with the remarkable botanical wealth !
• Visit the church of the Evangelist Lucas , who after Apostle Paul ’ s death lived , taught , wrote and died in Thiva ! Inside the church the sacred bones are preserved .
• Just 5 km away from Thiva the remains of the temple of the Kabirion are found , a temple of local worship , dedicated to the god Kaviros , the god Pedas but also the “ Kavirian Demetra ”.

από την Παλαιολιθική Περίοδο . Η επίσκεψη συμπληρώνεται με περιήγηση στον αύλειο χώρο όπου εκτίθενται λίθινα μνημεία και ολοκληρώνεται με την επίσκεψη στον μεσαιωνικό πύργο , ενώ ο επισκέπτης έχει τη δυνατότητα να περιηγηθεί διαχρονικά στη μακραίωνη ιστορία της Βοιωτίας μέσα από χαρακτηριστικά ευρήματα , ψηφιακές εφαρμογές , εποπτικό υλικό , αναπαραστάσεις αλλά και τα ίδια τα μνημεία , όπως ο πύργος και τα αρχιτεκτονήματα στα θεμέλια του κτηρίου . ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM It is proud to be one of the top 3 museums in the country along with the ones of the Acropolis and of Delfi ! The long history of Viotia has now found roof in a 1000 sm . space totally rebuilt and with an almost complete renewal of its pieces , which they derive from the lastest excavations . So , the renewed Archaeological Museum in Thiva is developed in two different levels and the show is consisted of 18 units total , that present the culture , the every day life and the political and social evolution in Viotia throughout the ages starting from the
Paleolithic Era . The visit is enriched with a tour in the outdoor space where pieces from stone monuments are in display and is completed with the visit to the medieval tower , while the visitor has the chance to walk through characteristic findings , digital applications , visual material , replicas even the original monuments , such as the tower and the architecture in the foundation of the building .
