ΑΙΘΟΥΣΑ ΗΛΕΚΤΡΙΚΗΣ ΠΕΡΙΟΔΟΥ
Στον εκθεσιακό χώρο του 1ου ορόφου παρουσιάζονται οι
κυριότεροι εφευρέτες των τηλεπικοινωνιών της Ηλεκτρικής
περιόδου, Mορς, Μπελ και Μαρκόνι, αλλά και οι εφευρέ-
σεις τους, μέσα από μια ξεχωριστή βιωματική περιήγηση.
Ιστορίες επικοινωνίας, που ξεκινούν από τις Φρυκτωρίες,
δηλαδή την οπτική αναμετάδοση μηνυμάτων με φλόγες,
τον ήχο του κέρατος και φτάνουν στον ηλεκτρικό τηλέ-
γραφο, το τηλέφωνο, τους δορυφόρους, το διαδίκτυο
και την κινητή τηλεφωνία, παρουσιάζονται μέσα από νέες
προηγμένες τεχνολογίες, όπως το Augmented Reality (AR)
και το Virtual Reality (VR), με στόχο να ενισχυθεί η διαδρα-
στικότητα μεταξύ των επισκεπτών και των εκθεμάτων. Με τη
βοήθεια της ψηφιοποίησης, έχουμε την ευκαιρία να δούμε
ένα μοναδικό βίντεο, το οποίο έχει δημιουργηθεί από το
Ηistorica Canada, όπου ο Μαρκόνι λαμβάνει το πρώτο
διατλαντικό ραδιοφωνικό μήνυμα. Μεταξύ άλλων, οι επι-
σκέπτες του μουσείου μπορούν να ακούσουν τη φωνή του
Bell μέσα από ψηφιακές ηχητικές πηγές (National Museum
of American History Smithsonian Institution), ενώ μπο-
ρούν να μάθουν την ιστορία της τηλεγραφίας από τον ίδιο
τον Μορς, ο οποίος «ζωντανεύει» μέσα από το tablet του
μουσείου με το ενσωματωμένο σύστημα επαυξημένης
πραγματικότητας. Μπορούν ακόμη να πραγματοποιήσουν
μέσω VR μία 360 εικονική περιήγηση στο καλωδιακό πλοίο
«Θαλής ο Μιλήσιος», ένα από τα πρώτα πλοία που τοπο-
θετούσαν υποβρύχια καλώδια προκειμένου να συνδέσουν
με τηλεπικοινωνιακά δίκτυα την ηπειρωτική με τη νησιωτική
Ελλάδα, αλλά και την Ευρώπη με την Ασία και την Αφρική.

ELECTRIC PERIOD EXHIBITION HALL
In the exhibition space on the 1st floor the main inventors of
telecommunications of the Electric period, Morse, Bell and
Marconi are presented, as well as their relevant inventions
through a different emotive tour. Histories of communication
starting from the Phryctorias, the optical transmission of mes-
sages through flames and the sound of horns to the electric
telegraph, the telephone, the satellites, the network and mobile
telephony., presented through new advanced technologies,
such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), with
the aim to enhance interaction between the visitors and the
exhibits. With the contribution of digitalisation, the visitor
has the chance to watch a unique video, created by Historica
Canada, where Marconi receives the first transatlantic radio
message. Among others, the visitors to the museum can hear
Bell’s voice through digital sound sources (National Museum of
American History Smithsonian Institution), while they can also
learn about the history of telegraphy from Morse himself, who
“revives” through a tablet in the Museum, with the integrated
augmented reality system. They can even make through a VR
a 360 virtual tour to “Thales of Miletus” cable ship, one of the
first ships that placed underwater cables in order to connect
mainland with island Greece, as well as Europe with Asia and
Africa using telecommunication networks.
