Since November 2012, Athens possesses its own genuine
wine bistro. By The Glass, an established meeting point
for the wine-loving crowd, is a well-received surprise on
Syntagma square and “well-protected” within the historic
Rally Arcade. The space intrigues with its private corners
and its large cellar where more than 350 Greek and inter-
national wine bottles rest, as well as with the atmospheric
arcade where the nostalgic aura of old Athens is evident.
The expertise of Fotini Pantzia is reflected in the exemplary
wine list (updated every month) presenting popular as well
as rare labels, most of which are available by the glass (25
ml, 75 ml and 150 ml) thanks to the Coravin and By the
Glass systems. The wine pairing results in fine suggestions,
ideal for lunch break, warm and cold dishes and finger food
as side dishes. This Dionysian mystery is completed with
relaxing lounge and jazz music, from early in the morning.
