Έκανε δυναμικά εδώ και περίπου πέντε χρόνια την εμφάνισή της η πιάτσα της Πλατείας της Αγίας Ειρήνης. Ο άλλοτε σκοτεινός δρόμος που προσπερνούσαμε από το Σύνταγμα πηγαίνοντας στου Ψυρρή, μια ανάσα από το Μοναστηράκι, πάνω στην Αιόλου, είναι πλέον από τα χαρακτηριστικά meeting points. Αρχικά έδειξε ένα εναλλακτικό πρόσωπο συγκεντρώνοντας κυρίως νεολαία – αλλά και gay κοινό –, για να κερδίσει στην πορεία την προτίμηση όλων των ηλικιών με τις προτάσεις της. Πάνω και γύρω από την κεντρική πλατεία συναντάμε από προχωρημένα cafés και bars, alternative και παρεΐστικα, μέχρι χώρους με θεατρικά events, εστιατόρια, καινοτόμες προτάσεις στο φαγητό, αλλά και street food. Και το καλύτερο; Όλα αυτά μακριά από τάσεις υπερβολής. Info: Ο ναός της Αγίας Ειρήνης ήταν ο σημαντικότερος της Αθήνας μετά την Επανάσταση του 1821!
Τhe piazza of Aghia Irini square has come vigorously to the fore the past five years. The once dark road we used to pass by from Syntagma on our way to Psyrri is only a breath distance from Monastiraki, located on Aiolou street and now one of the most characteristic meeting points. Initially it showed an alternative profile gathering mainly youngsters – but also gay public – to win later the preference of people of all ages with its proposals. On and around we find from advanced cafés and bars, alternative and friendly, to spaces organizing theatrical events, restaurants, innovative suggestions on food and street food also. Last but not least: the above mentioned are far from any tendency to excess. Info: The church of Aghia Irini was the most important of Athens during the period following the Revolution of 1821.
