Dr. Clay Cockerell is a board certified dermatopathologist who specializes
in diagnosing disorders of the skin. Dermatopathology is a combination of
pathology, identifying disorders microscopically, and dermatology, the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. Dr. Cockerell oversees an educational
program that trains Dermatopathologists, and he has been published in both
the Archives of Dermatology and the American Journal of Dermatopathology. He was also the President of the American Academy of Dermatology in
2004, Socioeconomic Committee Chairman of the Dallas Dermatologic Society in 1997, Vice President of the International Society of Dermatopathology from 1990-1994, President of the Dallas Dermatologic Society in 1993,
and President of the Physicians for AIDS Care in 1993. Dr. Cockerell is also
associated with the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical
Association, American Society of Contact Dermatitis, American Society of
Dermatopathology and the Dallas Dermatological Society.
He went to Medical School at Baylor College of Medicine and graduated in
1981. He held an internship with the University of Washington Health Science
Center, Internal Medicine in 1982. Then, he went on to serve his residency at
