Dr. Michael Rimlawi is the director and founder of the Minimally Invasive
Spine Relief. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon who
completed unique training in both orthopedic-spine and neurosurgery-spine
at the renowned University of California San Diego. Dr. Rimlawi treats all
aspects of spinal disease including degenerative and traumatic conditions of
the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He is a leader in the field of minimally
invasive spine surgery and a pioneer in endoscopic laser spine surgery.
Dr. Rimlawi utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures to determine
the precise location of pain, facilitating the least invasive surgery possible and
minimizing postoperative pain and recovery time.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Rimlawi is involved in ongoing research that aims to improve minimally invasive surgical techniques and devices. He was the first surgeon in America to perform the Globus Minimally
Invasive XLIF procedure, and the first in the country to perform a Minimally
Invasive Lumbar fusion using STORKS endoscopic camera system. Dr. Rimlawi was also the first surgeon in Texas to perform the newest micro-endoscopic
spine surgery. This new technique involves an incision less than a quarter the
size of even standard minimally invasive spine surgeries. No general anesthetic or stitches are needed. Patients go home one hour after the procedure with
a simple Band-Aid.
