Our Focus on Education restoring hope
One of the vital ingredients of a good childhood is education . In today ’ s competitive world , without a good education , your chance of finding secure employment is significantly diminished .
We know that being happy at school is one of the most important ways children and young people feel connected , form friendships and have access to teachers as role models . Most of the children with whom we work attend primary school , but many are moved too often , are rejected because of their behaviour or find it hard to learn because of what is happening at home .
The transition to secondary school is a big change for many young people . It ’ s also a time when too many of our young people drop out or are excluded .
This is why we continue to grow our investment in education :
• 88 young people were enrolled in our school campuses in Noble Park and Morwell and 58 in our education program in Shepparton .
We know that being happy at school is one of the most important ways children and young people feel connected , form friendships and have access to teachers as role models .
• 251 young people were encouraged to continue their education through tutoring , creative arts programs , wilderness experience and other wellbeing and life skills activities .
• We worked with another 691 young people in further education and pre-employment programs .
• We worked with 88 schools through our two School Focused Youth Services .
• 4 schools and 33 families in our innovative Families & Schools Together program .
