The first published Bermuda Parent Magazine was 2 months after the birth of my second child. He is now 8. I didn’t have a background in journalism, marketing, business or writing. One could say, I have been in school for 8 years. In the last 3 years, I have been homeschooling both my boys and I have certainly grown as a parent and a person. I have much more respect for teachers than ever before, as well as the need for structure and discipline in my own life. I say all this to simply say, that often we think our personal dreams as parents can never be accomplished because they are too hard, too far away or we put everyone else’s needs before our own. My advice is if you have a dream or a goal that you are struggling with or have put on the back burner, take it out – dust it off. Start with small steps, take the step of faith and start before you are ready! Once you start you will have to follow through and figure it out.
