photo provided by Estate of Dixie Evans n 2011 a dark cloud settled above I our community. Dixie became estranged from the museum and pageant she created. It was a hard and confusing time for many of us who were close to both Dixie and the event. Yet, I have no doubt that it was the hardest on Dixie. Dixie loved the energy of the weekender. And even though she wasn’t as hands on with the production after its relocation to Las Vegas, she still had show ideas, opinions and concepts that she was passionate about and which were respected and integrated into the nights. And beyond the action on stage, every June in Las Vegas, Dixie basked in the light of love she received from fans and performers alike. It is a great sadness that Dixie’s relationship with the museum, now known as the Burlesque Hall of Fame, was not reconciled before her death. “...booked two years in advance,I thought,‘Boy,I have arrived.’” ~Dixie Evans 5 Berlesker
