July 9, Anthony Wood, author of Servant of Beauty: Landmarks, Secret Love, and the Unimagined Life of an Unsung New York Hero( 2025), chronicles the true story of Albert Sprague Bard( 1866-1963), an attorney, civic activist, and energetic participant in urban affairs and historic preservation. July 16, Jonathan Conlin, author of The MET: A History of a Museum and Its People( 2024), tells the stories of the people who have shaped the museum— from curators and artists to museumgoers and security guards— and the communities that have made it their own.
July 30, Henry Wiencek, author of Stan and Gus: Art, Ardor, and the Friendship that Built the Gilded Age( 2025), tells the story of Stanford White, the creator of landmark buildings that elevated American architecture to new heights, and Augustus Saint-Gaudens, son of an immigrant shoemaker whose painstaking work brought emotional depth to American sculpture.
August 20, Sara Cedar Miller, author of Before Central Park( 2022), offers an authoritative account of the place that would become Central Park, chronicling two-and-a-half centuries of history from the first Dutch family to settle on the land through the political crusade to create America ' s first major urban park.
