Wohlfeld and directed by Jack Grossman, returns after a hilariously successful show in February. A Night of Drama( June 28) also returns for an encore performance. Chaotic and side-splittingly funny, it stars Wohlfeld and Grossman. You’ ll laugh out loud as a comedy theater director tries to wrangle his company into a serious play, complete with banana peels and clowns. Located in the eastern foothills of the Berkshires, Double Edge’ s commitment to
live performance in natural surroundings is 42 years strong and counting. Co-artistic directors Jennifer Johnson, Travis Coe, and Milena Dabova produce events throughout the year, including live performances, training, community days, and immersive festivals. Double Edge’ s large-scale indoor / outdoor summer spectacle, however, is by far their most popular and spectacular. So popular, in fact, that most summer shows run for two summers to accommodate all who want to see it.
The Heron’ s Flight Summer Spectacle( July 16 – August 3) is directed by Johnson and Coe. The audience literally follows the performers through gardens, barns, and waterways of the theater’ s Farm Center, following the journey of a great blue heron experiencing explosive moments of love, dance, and flight. Heron’ s Flight is performed over 11 performance spaces at
Double Edge’ s Farm Center and features the wildlife who live there— a family of deer, frogs in the pond, and the herons, thought to be totems of good fortune, that come to the farm every summer, and who inspired the production.“ The spectacle aspect is important,” says Johnson.“ Not only is there live original music and ariel work, but the show takes the audience through our ornamental gardens, ponds and streams, labyrinths, fields. It’ s all part of the experience. The message is choosing who you want to be and how you want to live.” n
