Vol. 14, Issue 2 May / June 2025
Kim Taylor
WE’ RE heading into our 13th year of Berkshire Magazine. We must be doing something right, and that starts with loving what we do and creating a magazine that reflects our community. It’ s something I embrace every day, knowing that the Berkshires is made up of some incredibly talented and thoughtful people producing spectacular things for all of us to enjoy— in museums, on the big stage, in intimate music venues, and elsewhere. I moved here 17 years ago when my youngest child wasn’ t even a year old. She was four when we printed the first Berkshire Magazine in July 2012. If you look at this issue’ s The Art of It, that’ s her now, wearing the art of Deborah H. Carter and Joanie Ciolfi that will be exhibited at Hancock Shaker Village. Supporting one another happens in many ways, such as the monthly networking meeting for the LGBTQ + business community and their allies.( We are proud to be a founding partner.) On May 21, the event will be at Heart’ s Pace Teahouse in North Adams, and on June 18 at Devonfield Inn in Lee. In the photo below taken at the kickoff event at Wander Berkshires, you’ ll see a special someone whose name is Jen Hines, account executive with Berkshire Magazine.( She’ s second from the right in the middle row.) Jen is the go-to person for ad sales and is here to promote your business in the magazine and on our online platforms. It is a real pleasure to work with this gem of a person for 13 years. Don’ t miss our annual LGBTQ + Guide that begins on page 99. As usual, this issue is our annual preview of the summer cultural season, filled with interviews with legends like Bonnie Raitt, Bill T. Jones, Annette Miller, Dawn Upshaw, and others. I also talked with James Taylor, pictured with me above, about his long friendship with Bonnie. I look forward to both of their performances at Tanglewood. Here’ s to summer in the Berkshires!
