MANY PEOPLE travel in the summertime ; they go great distances to be at the opening of a museum ’ s groundbreaking exhibition , or to be at a concert of a multi-Grammy ® -winning artist , or to be present at the world premiere of a heart-stopping theatrical production , or to catch a stunning performance by a world-class orchestra . Maybe they want to catch this summer ’ s one-and-only U . S . performance by The Royal Ballet or sit in on a talk by a prolific New Yorker cartoonist . Or rub shoulders with the artists of the iconic MAD Magazine .
I certainly would travel a great distance for such memorable summertime experiences . But I won ’ t . I don ’ t have to , because all of those things will be coming to us , right here , in the Berkshires . ( Like Joan Baez , who was here in March and appeared on the cover of our last issue .)
