IT ’ S AMAZING how much territory you can cover in less than a week in the Berkshires .
The other day , I popped over to Naumkeag to look at the sculptures in the gardens by George Rickey . I was met by the curator , Mark Wilson , who worked tirelessly to make the exhibition happen and was kind enough to give me a tour . You can view some of the sculptures in this issue (“ Art in Motion ,” page 8 ). I traveled quite a bit farther that weekend to connect with two hot air balloon pilots at a gathering at Post Mills Airport in Vermont (“ Taking Flight ,” page 22 ). A few days later , I quietly strolled through Berkshire Botanical Garden (“ Giving Back ,” page 38 ). I ’ ve spent plenty of time in Sandisfield , at Sunny Rose Farm (“ Town Guide ,” page 90 ), and have eaten my fair share of delectable pastries from The Lost Lamb (“ Sweet Revenge ,” page 78 ). I ’ ve popped into multiple galleries (“ In the Market for Fine Art ,” page 60 ), as well as stepped into the newly restored Berkshire Theatre Group ’ s Mortimer Lloyd Artist House (“ Playwriting in Process ,” page 14 ). I ’ ve only scratched the surface of stories you ’ ll find in these pages . Behind all of these fabulous locations are the people who make our Berkshires sing .
