renovated homes. Jen, who leads the design side of the company, has spent more than 25 years designing custom homes and renovations, helping clients transform their ideas into thoughtful, highly functional living spaces. Together, they own JPH Building, Inc. and Firehouse Design( a division of JPH Building, Inc.).
Their connection to the old firehouse began when Jay looked for office space outside of their home. He initially rented one studio in the building, and as JPH Building and Firehouse Design grew, the business expanded into two additional spaces. When the opportunity arose to purchase the building, it felt like the natural next step.
In addition to their business being located there, Jay and Jen turned a good portion of the building into a design-forward, deeply personal place for guests to stay. They created three apartments, each with a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and all the amenities you’ d find in a boutique hotel. The Firehouse is listed on Airbnb and Vrbo, with its popularity largely driven by repeat guests and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Jay and Jen approached the Firehouse Studios the same way they approach their design projects: with attention to detail and a deep understanding of how people use a space. Every apartment is designed to feel comfortable, functional, and personal, rather than like a typical vacation rental. Each space has its own character, with details that reflect the design philosophy they bring to their residential projects.
Jay and Jen initially assumed the onebedroom apartment would be the most popular. Instead, the three-bedroom apartment, with two living rooms and a private deck, quickly became the guest favorite. Families gather with children and grandparents; friends reunite for outdoor adventures; and loved ones come together to celebrate weddings, college graduations, and other special occasions. Its location makes it easy for guests enjoy— by foot— everything the village has to offer. Whether visiting family, attending local events, exploring the outdoors, or simply soaking in the charm of this magical village, guests quickly discover why so many return.
The Firehouse Studios are managed with the same level of care that Jay and Jen bring to their construction and design projects. In the early months, Jen personally handled much of the cleaning and turnover process to better understand what was required to maintain the highest standards. She and Jay then developed systems for housekeeping and anticipating guest needs.
