IN THE LAST ISSUE ' S " SCRIBBLED NOTE,"
I mentioned the writers and photographers who regularly contribute to the magazine. That included Scott Edward Anderson, who often writes at least a few articles in each issue of Berkshire Magazine.
In this magazine, you’ ll see that Scott authored the following pieces:“ A Recipe for Community”( page 65),“ From Investment to Impact”( page 68), and“ Making Public Lands Welcome to All”( page 98). In all of these articles, community is a key factor. Scott’ s passion for and knowledge of the subjects that he writes about is apparent when considering his background. Scott enjoyed a 30-year career in conservation, social enterprise, and cleantech. In the last eight years, Scott has turned his focus to his writing, publishing several award-winning books of poetry and non-fiction, including Wine-Dark Sea: New & Selected Poems & Translations, Dwelling: an ecopoem, and Falling Up: A Memoir of Second Chances. In addition to his writing for Berkshire Magazine, he has written for HuffPost, Lucid News, Culture, and other publications.
Scott also is a fellow West Stockbridge resident, and it’ s always a pleasure to run into him— at Ella May’ s ice cream shop, at the Zucchini Festival, at the transfer station, at the Public Market, at The Foundry, and elsewhere. I know the phrase“ it takes a village” may be overused, but it comes to mind often— when I put together another issue of the magazine, when I sit in on a town meeting, when I get involved in events in our Berkshires, and many other instances.
It especially comes to mind this time of year when we announce the picks for the annual Berkshire 25( page 36). Come celebrate this outstanding group of people at a reception at Hancock Shaker Village on Wednesday, September 17. You can get a ticket at hancockshakervillage. org. Congratulations to this year’ s honorees!
