Violinist Annar Follesø has released three critically acclaimed albums where his interpretations of Ole Bull are central. In 2019 he will release a new album with previously unknown works by Bull, together with pianist Wolfgang Plagge and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra conducted by Eun-Sun Kim. Follesø and Plagge have collaborat- ed since 1999, and during this year’s Bergen International Festival they will perform a double concert in Ole Bull’s summer residence on Lysøen. Here 060 the audience will be able to hear two pieces from the new album, as well as other works. ’On the programme are two works typical of Bull’s eclectic style – Italian bel canto meets Scottish and Norwegian folk music and a sort of precursor to the ragtime style made famous by Scott Joplin decades lat- er. Also, we will perform a great but rarely played piece by Bull’s great role model, Niccolò Paganini,’ says Follesø. Playing Bull’s music on Lysøen is a very special experience for the violinist. ’Not only does the beautiful nature create a frame around the concert venue, but the house and its interior also complement the music in an outstanding way,’ he says. #FE STSPILLEN E19 Annar Follesø violin Wolfgang Plagge piano OLE BULL (1810–1880) Vilspel i lio NICCOLÒ PAGANINI (1782–1840) Cantabile e Valse SCOTT JOPLIN (1868–1917) 6 Rags Arr.: Itzhak Perlman (1945–) OLE BULL (1810–1880) Largo posato e Rondo Capriccioso from A Distant Greeting Supported by The Savings Bank Foundation DNB – Dextra Musica and Anders Sveaas’ Charitable Foundation
