Astrid Nordstad, mezzo-soprano, comes to
the Bergen International Festival from the
Norwegian Opera, where she is an intern this
season, along with Christian Grøvlen, piano.
In Troldsalen they perform works by Dvořák,
Bartók and Grieg.
‘Like Grieg’s music, Dvořák’s is imbued with
national romantic elements. The Czech mas-
ter combines Slavic passion, virtuosity and

warmth. Bartók continues in the aesthetic of
Astrid Nordstad and
both Dvořák and Grieg, but with sharper edges,
Christian Grøvlen are
more intense rhythms and raw expressivity,’
