A central work in the 2015 Festival Exhibition
is a film recorded in Bergen about an art student who leaves college to take on the role of a
beggar on the street. The film is one of several
works on the themes of use of public space and
ongoing discussions on such topics as begging and urban advertising. Ane Hjort Guttu
also demonstrates how the complex question
of rights in public spaces affects our personal
space and our psyche.
The exhibition will also appear at the South
London Gallery in 2015.
New works on power, freedom and art
as critical and political tools.
Through film, sculptures, photographs and
readymades Ane Hjort Guttu has in recent
years raised questions related to how much
room to manoeuvre art and the artist have in
topical political matters. How can artists address politics efficiently? What does 'efficient'
mean in that context, and is that what political
art ought to be?

There are few places in the world
where the effects of climate change
are experienced so directly and rapidly
as in the islands of the tropical Pacific,
where rising sea level, warming and
acidification of the ocean, and new patterns of extreme weather in some cases
threaten the viability of entire nations.
In this symposium, prominent climate
scientists, politicians and activists from
the Pacific and Norway meet, in order to
create new dialogues on the challenges
currently facing the Pacific, and the

Many would claim that the patriarchal
religions contain a view of women that
is at odds with human rights. How does
this affect our cultural understanding
and the world today? In connection
with the world premiere of Adam & Eve
(p. 64), we invite Deeyah Khan, Gunnar
Stålsett, John Peder Egenæs, Cecilie
Ore and Maryam Namazie to a panel
discussion in association with Amnesty
International and Bergens Tidende.
Moderator: Hilde Sandvik. We will also
be showing Yoko Ono’s controversial
art film Arising.
