'Performing Ole Bull's Et sæterbesøg in his own home is an experience I couldn't deny myself, but first and foremost I have the honour of giving the first performance of Thommessen's Bulls'hit,' explains the violinist, who is currently a postgraduate student at the Norwegian Academy of Music. The concert marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius with three of his ingenious humoresques. There are also works by Chausson and Schubert on the programme. 'Schubert's Fantasie in C major is a definite milestone in the life of a musician. Written in the year before his death, it is a fantastic example of how Schubert develops a fairly simple musical idea into a huge virtuoso masterpiece, with emotions ranging from the deepest melancholy of despair to heavenly delight,' says Miriam Helms Ålien.
