This department is open to eligible junior participants as defined in the Benton County Fair General Livestock Rules. All general livestock rules of the fair apply to this department. In addition, the exhibitors in this section are subject to the following regulations.
General Rules
1. All exhibitors must be an ACTIVE Benton County 4-H or FFA member in Good Standing at the time of nomination / entry as well as time of the fair by entering any projects in the Benton County Fair in Arkansas, you must acknowledge that you have not and will not exhibit any projects( Livestock, crafts, canned goods etc.) in any other county fair in this calendar year.
2. Goats must be of the meat goat variety. No dairy goats allowed. All breeds and crosses of market goats are allowed. Goats may be does or wethers. 3. All meat goats must be owned by June 7, 2025. 4. Each Jr exhibitor may nominate as many meat goats as you wish BUT may show only six( 6). Exhibitors are limited to two( 2) commercial does, three( 3) market, and three( 3) breeding. Only six( 6) goats per Jr. Exhibitor will be permitted.
5. Each Cloverbud exhibitor may nominate as many meat goats as you wish BUT may show only three( 3). Cloverbud Exhibitors are limited to one( 1) market, one( 1) commercial, one( 1) breeding or all three( 3) breeding.
6. If a Cloverbud has two in a class, they must have another Cloverbud assist them in showing.
7. All goats will be inspected INSIDE the trailer prior to entering the barn area. Any goats showing symptoms of fungus, ringworm, foot rot, sore mouth, scrapie, etc., will be sent home. If any animals on the trailer are contagious, the entire trailer will be sent home immediately.
8. All breeding goats must be owned by July 1st, 2025. Cloverbud and Jr Exhibitors must maintain continuous ownership, possession, and provide daily care for each goat entered in the Benton County Fair from the time of nomination until the conclusion of the Benton County Fair.
9. Market and Commercial Does must weigh a minimum of 50lbs at the time of weigh-in. a) The scales used during the weigh-in will be the official scales. b) There will be no early weighing or re-weighing of goats c) There will be no maximum weight. d) Any goat weighing under 50lbs will be sent home. NO Exceptions.
10. All market goats and commercial does must have baby teeth( indicator of age being under one year) at the time of weigh-in. 11. Goats must be dehorned or tipped( any length) for safety reasons. 12. Each exhibitor will care for and protect his / her goats until the conclusion of the Benton County Fair. Exhibitors will be expected to keep their animals fed and with clean water during the entire fair week. Exhibitors are to keep the pens and surrounding areas clean throughout the entire fair week. Pens and surrounding areas must be cleaned daily and kept clean throughout the day.
13. Grooming: Artificial coloring, paint and powder are not permitted for use in the market, commercial, or breeding goat shows.
