The Science Corner ’ s opening in March 2013 was widely covered by the media and created great interest in Paraguayan society . Also , a recent science-themed alumni innovation fund project with Fulbright Alumni has expanded interest in the Science Corner . Mission Objective 3.1 : Communicate U . S . initiatives and progress in promoting strong institutions , democratic governance , and economic opportunities . Mission Objective 3.2 : Expand educational , professional , and cultural opportunities and exchanges .
The Science Corner opened to the public in March 2013 . During the first year , FY 13 , it had 1740 visitors , 45 programs and 2970 attendees at programs . In FY 14 , we
increased to 2143 visitors , almost doubled the programs
( 84 ), and doubled the number of attendees at programs .
In FY15 , we had over 4000 visitors , 88 programs and almost thirteen thousand attendees at programs .
The proposal of the science corner coincides with the Mission of Expanded Economic Opportunity and Prosperity Mission Objective 2.3 : Increase education and skills further economic growth . SUB-OBJECTIVE 3 : Increase awareness of and access to science and technology , literacy , and education to inspire young people to new career opportunities and the mission objective of A Public Opinion Environment that is Supportive of U . S . Policy Initiatives
From March 2016 until August 2016 we had 1500 visitors , 55 programs and 13422 attendees at programs . We hope to continue to increase our programming and do more outreach as well as to increase the number of visitors to the Science Corner .
