JAGUARS INVESTING IN EDUCATION
Jaguars Owner Shad Khan and Harry Frisch,
Founder of Beaver Street Fisheries both were
immigrants to America and grateful for the
opportunities they had to achieve the American
dream. Their shared belief in the value of
education and high character led them to form
the Shad Khan and Harry Frisch Scholarship
Program.
The scholarship program supports graduating
high-school seniors who have successfully
completed the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation’s
Honor Rows Program and/or have exhibited a
growth mindset in their personal and academic
life. These scholarships help to support emerging
freshman attending the University of North
Florida, Florida State College at Jacksonville, or
an accredited college, university, or technical
training school that is recognized as a two-year
or four-year program.
This year the Jaguars Foundation is partnering
with City Year to host Family FAFSA Workshops
at four local high schools. These workshops
are designed to share the latest information
on federal and state fi nancial aid programs as
well as resources for scholarships, including the
Shad Khan and Harry Frisch Scholarship, with
the families of graduating seniors. The goal is to
help increase Duval County’s FAFSA completion
rate by helping to combat challenges that may
keep families from attending these important
sessions. Family FAFSA Workshops will be held
at Andrew Jackson High School, Jean Ribault
High School, Ed White High School and William
M. Raines High School.
Most visible on game day is the Jaguars
Foundation’s Honor Rows program. Presented
by “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,” Honor Rows is
a nationally recognized program that uses seats
at Jaguars home games as incentives for youth
to set and achieve goals in the areas of academic
improvement, personal behavior, physical
fi tness, and community service. The Jaguars
Foundation partners with 40 Jacksonville-area
nonprofi ts to provide more than 5,000 children
with a game day experience each season.
Approximately 55,000 kids have participated
in Honor Rows since 1995. “Alert Today, Alive
Tomorrow” is a campaign in conjunction with
the Florida Department of Transportation that is
a pedestrian and bicycle safety initiative.
