Hello all. Before we begin, I would like to say that I'm dedicating this edition of things that I hate to the memory of my late father. May he rest in peace. Once more, I have found things that I hate for one reason or another. Just a quick reminder that these are from me and me alone, so if you have a concern with one of them, you know who to contact. Let's get started.
The first two have to do with cars. Don't you hate when you arrive from a flight and you get a long line at the car rental because there's maybe one person there while the others are at lunch or away from the counter? Happened to me before. I cannot recall where I was arriving from, but this line at the car rental was so long and so slow. It took a good hour of standing in line before we got up to the counter to request a car we reserved. Say you get there and you find out that the car you want is not available. That leads to my second one with cars.
Don't you hate when you want to get the car you want and end up getting a different one? Happened to me a few times. While this is usually bad, it could end up being good if you act carefully. I'll explain.
One time coming to the rental car center out of the airport in Phoenix, AZ, we didn't get the car we asked for. However, we got a better one that we asked for. The reason I was in Arizona at the time was because a musical group I was in was invited to play down in Arizona. While it was fun, it would be the only gig for us outside the state of Colorado,
which is where I was living at the time.
My next one has to do with money. Specifically, it has to do with money you save for a trip. Don't you hate when you go on a trip and have to convert your money to a different currency? While this is annoying, it can be funny. I recall an episode of the Simpsons where the family goes
to Itchy and Scratchy land. Homer converts the money into Itchy and Scratchy bucks. After he does, he sees so many signs that don't use it, so he says, "D'OH!" Funny! I consider converting money to a different currency annoying because money in one country could be less in other countries. Of course, once you convert it back, it becomes more.
The last one for this edition is about lunches. Specifically, people cutting in line. Don't you hate when you go to a cafeteria and wait in line to choose your food when someone cuts in line instead of going all the way to the back where they belong? It's happened to me before. I was getting my lunch. I believe it was soft shelled tacos that day. I was carrying my backpack with me which was heavy. I think about three younger boys cut in front of me. When I saw the teacher, I growled at him. He grabbed me and took me away a little and asked me what was wrong. I told him. He told me not to do it again. I went back into line, asked kindly to cut in since I was getting my lunch, then paid for it and went to a table so I could sit and eat.
I got a bonus one for you folks. This one also has to do with food. Don't you hate when you have only thirty minutes to eat lunch then got to get back to work or back to class? It happened to me many times. There was never enough time in the day to have enough time to have a healthy lunch and have enough time to go outside and play. While this is true for some schools still today, most schools give enough time for both. I really enjoy those. That’s it for this edition of things that I hate. Until next time, I'm out.
